Hot Tub Care During Covid-19

The first thing to know about hot tubs and Covid-19 is that the proper care of the water using sanitizing agents such as chlorine and bromine should "inactivate the virus".

From the The United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

CDC is not aware of any scientific reports of the virus that causes COVID-19 spreading to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, or water playgrounds. Plus, proper operation of public pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds (such as at an apartment complex or owned by a community) and disinfection of the water (with chlorine or bromine) should inactivate the virus.

In order to ensure the "proper" care of hot tub water, our hot tub maintenance and water care staff will typically visit our hot tubs between four and seven days a week during winter months! Our level of service is not designed to generate profits from our hot tub service, but to ensure the highest level of care and protection of the guests or owners, and maintenance of the hot tubs themselves.

Can we Skip Hot Tub Service?

Some homes have hot tubs on private decks which can only be accessed by passing through a home. If my hot tub staff must enter the home you've rented in order to care for the water or protect the hot tub itself in cases of mechanical or electrical problems, they will always where face shields, special masks designed to significantly reduce risk of transmission and gloves.

Some guests who have been particularly concerned about the risks of Covid-19 have asked us to simply not care for the hot tub water while they are in residence. It is not possible for us to simply forgo hot tub water care while guests are in residence due to Covid-19. If you feel strongly about having no one enter your home while in residence, you must not book a property that has a hot tub. With that said, many of our hot tubs are located outside at ground level, so the majority of hot tub care can be done without entering a home. Still, in a variety of situations, it may be necessary to enter a home as part of our hot tub care that cannot be avoided and we reserve this right while guests are in residence.

Below are some of the risks of not caring for hot tub water regularly:

Again, we will do our very best to avoid entering a rental home to care for hot tubs, but if we must, our staff will take all reasonable precautions to protect themselves and members of your party from the risk of coronavirus transmission.

Our hot tub water services are performed by Matt & Chelsea of Energize Pool and Spa.
They will wear PPE before entering any home currently rented by any of our guests.
