We know, they're pretty eyecatching! So what's the deal?
If you've been to Sun Peaks Resort at all during the last few seasons, you've probably noticed several people wearing Top Of The Mountain hockey jerseys while skiing or snowboarding on the mountain. We give these jerseys to each of our staff every season so they can wear them - well, whenever they want to! - but especially when they're working or out on the hill so everyone knows they're part of Team TOTM.
We're very fortunate that every season, not only do we retain our core year-round staff, but we also get the chance to hire several seasonal workers. A bunch of them come as referrals from previous staff members (not to toot our own horns, but we've got pretty rave reviews as employers!), otherwise we hire people who are looking for work-and-travel opportunities in Canada. We definitely aren't the kind of company that requires our staff to wear uniforms, and in fact we don't even have that strict of a dress code, but we thought if our staff wanted to wear something that easily visibly identifies them as a Team TOTM staff member, it should be something unique, Canadian, and definitely cooler than the standard polo or hoodie! We brainstormed and thought, what could be more cool or Canadian than a hockey jersey?
The idea snowballed from there and now you're likely to see our Top Of The Mountain hockey jerseys around Sun Peaks Resort in droves!
Historically, the people we hire are awesome, active, drawn to the outdoors, fun, sociable, and - duh - love skiing and snowboarding. Thus, every season more often than not, our seasonal staff all end up becoming lifelong friends and riding buddies, and that's why you'll so often see a big group of them out in our Team TOTM jerseys together on the hill.

Do only your staff have Top Of The Mountain jerseys?
There are a lucky few who have their own TOTM jerseys who have never worked for us. These would be some of our property owners who have become family friends, long-term loyal TOTM guests, and family and friends who don't mind being walking billboards. We also have former staff who have remained great friends of our families, who worked for us prior to our jerseys becoming a staple, that come back to visit us in Sun Peaks and get to leave with their brand new swag :)
Do you have to convince your team to wear the jerseys on the mountain?
Nope! In fact, what we originally envisioned as a cool, eye-catching way for guests to recognize our staff as they were entering/exiting properties for housekeeping or roaming around the village performing guest services activities, turned into a stamp of pride for our team who all choose to wear their jerseys out riding just because! We admit though, they are very comfy and keep you very warm, which we're sure helps on a frosty chairlift :)
What else does Top Of The Mountain have to do with hockey?
Besides the fact that every Canadian is inherently born with hockey in their DNA, Top Of The Mountain is one of the main sponsors of the local private drop-in hockey group that plays at the Sun Peaks Ice Skating Rink during the winter season on Monday nights. The group has become so popular now that there are a handful of sponsors, but when they first started, Top Of The Mountain and Mountain High Pizza were the only 2 sponsors and the team was called "TopOfTheMountainHigh". A little bit of history trivia for you!
What about the Top Of The Mountain RV I've seen around Sun Peaks Resort?
Even if you don't have 20/20 vision we're pretty sure you'll be able to spot our TOTM Bus around town! This is a multimedia RV that was once used in Rick Hansen's Man In Motion tour across Canada in 2011. This RV has been used as our mobile office when part of our office team went on our own tour across Canada (from Vancouver Island all the way to PEI and back!) in 2022, and it's also made several advertising trips to other local ski resorts such as Revelstoke and SilverStar.
